Functional Performance Testing
FCG can aid design and construction teams with the development of specific test procedures to validate the proper operation of the building enclosure. Prior to the start of testing, FCG can also develop a project-specific matrix that outlines the type and number of tests required for the building enclosure and pass/fail criteria for each of the required field tests. FCG is available to perform and document, to diagnose issues that may arise during testing, or to simply observe the testing. Testing typically includes:
- AAMA 501.2, Quality Assurance and Diagnostic Water Leakage Field Check of Installed Storefronts, Curtain Walls, and Sloped Glazing Systems (including interfaces between systems)
- ASTM E1105, Standard Test Method for the Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference
- ASTM E783, Standard Test Method for Field Measurement of Air Leakage Through Installed Exterior Windows and Doors
- ASTM E1186, Standard Practices for Air Leakage Site Detection in Building Envelopes and Air Barrier Systems
Although not specifically referenced above, FCG is also capable of performing other tests to verify the performance of the installed building enclosure systems that may be of interest to you, such as, thermal analyses, infrared thermography at interface conditions, adhesion testing of coatings and sealants, and other forms of field-performed quality control/assurance testing.
